Sundial Aquitaine Pendant Astrology
[G-SW-astrology]
$28.33USD*

The Aquitaine, astrology decor 1.25 inches/3.2 cm in diameter, is hand-crafted in pewter with a brass finished inner ring. It comes with a 30 inch, black silk cord or a pewter keychain. Accompanied by instructions.

HISTORY

How did the Aquitaine sundial get its name? Almost 900 years ago, in 1152, Eleanor of Aquitaine gave a sundial like this one to King Henry II of England so that Henry would know when to return from the hunt for their love trysts. Henry had a copy of the dial made for Eleanor that was inlaid with diamonds and engraved with the words Carpe Diem or "Seize the Day." On sunny days, watch this replica go to work by suspending the dial by its black satin cord. Through a tiny hole, a thin ray of sunshine shines through to illuminate a number on the inside of the dial showing the time of day.

ARTIST

Harris Morrison, the artist and designer of Shepherds Watch® sundials, has always been fascinated by artisans. When he was five, his mother took him to craft fairs in Plum Nelly, Tennessee, where he became enchanted by potters operating their kick wheels. He moved to Montreal to pursue pottery with a group of like-minded artisans, where he grew to become a Master Potter. There, with another Master Potter, Johannes Caserian, he developed a highly successful pottery business employing 15 potters.
