" To undestand more details about renaisance sundial ring from the year 1704 you shoul be familiar
with the place where this sundial was designed and created . We have to come back to history
of Saxony – German and intruduce the Frederick Augustus I who was the Elector of Saxony.
The Saxony sometimes referred to as Upper Saxony which was a State of the Holy Roman Empire.
The Frederick Augustus I ( 1670-1733) Augustus's great physical
strength earned him the nicknames "the Strong," "the Saxon Hercules" and "Iron-Hand." He liked to show that he lived up to his name by breaking horseshoes with his bare hands and engaging in fox tossing with a single finger.
The Frederick Augustus I As Elector of Saxony, he is perhaps best
remembered as a patron of the arts and architecture. He established
the Saxon capital of Dresden as a major cultural centre, attracting
artists and musicians from across Europe to his court. Frederick
Augustus I also amassed an impressive art collection and built fantastic baroque palaces at Dresden and Warsaw.
The Renaisance ring sundials is designed and calibrated for 51 degree latitude and this is latitude of Dresden city as the centrum of attracting artists . No name ring sundials model from the year 1704 represents a latest Renaissance Jewelry manufactured somewere around Dresden. "
