The Cloud chambers was invented by Charles Wilson around 1911related with the formation of rain clouds. If an energetic elementary particle passed through a gas, it leave a trail of ions. If saturating water vapour are present, water will condensed on these ions. The track of the elementary particle become visible as a line of water droplets.
The aparatus presentinted here, probably made in the 50's is a Cenral Scientific Co. teaching tool in its original cardbord box and with the vial containing the source of ionizing radiation.
